San Diego County Water District Issues
Critical to providing a safe and reliable supply to San Diego County are some of the Water Authority’s key Capital Improvement Program projects.
The Capital Improvement Program includes:
- The lining of the All-American and Coachella canals which will conserve 77,700 acre-feet of water annually for 110 years
- Construction of the Water Authority’s first owned and operated water treatment plant which will produce up to 100-million-gallons of treated water per day
- Seawater desalination which produces safe, high-quality water through a locally controlled process from a drought-proof source, the Pacific Ocean
- The raising of the San Vicente Dam by at least 54 feet increasing the reservoir’s storage capacity by 52,000 acre-feet
