The Las Vegas Valley Water District is a not-for-profit agency that began providing water to the Las Vegas Valley in 1954. The district helped build the city's water delivery system and now provides water to more than one million people in Southern Nevada. The Las Vegas Valley Water District also services the outlying areas of:

The Clark County Commissioners serve as the Water District's board of directors. The board appoints the general manager, who carries out day-to-day activities.

District water rates are regulated by law to cover the costs of water delivery and the maintenance and building of facilities. Rates are structured into four tiers to encourage conservation—the more water a customer uses, the more the customer pays.

LVVWD goals include:

People Leading the Way

The Las Vegas Valley Water District consists of a diverse team of talented, energetic people dedicated to serving a diverse community.

The agency's Diversity Council, a voluntary group of employees who represent a variety of viewpoints, meet regularly and sponsor educational events throughout the year. The Diversity Council promotes appreciation and respect for diversity through communication, education and outreach so both the organization and its customers benefit from the unique talents of each employee.

The Water District prides itself on its well-trained, talented work force. The agency supports a wide variety of training opportunities to enhance both employees' technical skills and professional development.

The Water District is the operating agency for the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA), a regional organization that works to secure water resources for the Las Vegas Valley. SNWA also manages a comprehensive conservation program in coordination with its members agencies, including LVVWD.
